Virgilio C Leynes' Obituary
Virgilio "Gil" C. Leynes, 77, of Wildwood, FL, previously from Langhorne, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2016.
Gil was born on May 27, 1939 in Silang, Cavite, Philippines to Anastacio C and Augustina S (Cruz) Leynes. He earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of the East in Manila, Philippines. He immigrated to the United States in 1968.
Gil's hard work and determination led him to being a top performer for an import/export company in New York City. This earned him a Vice President position and a relocation to the northeast Philadelphia area with his growing family.
He and his wife, Ludy, had the entrepreneurial spirit. They owned and operated an Asian themed restaurant, the Oriental Gourmet, for a number of years before building his financial services business in Lower Bucks County, PA. Gil became a Regional Vice President in 1985 for Primerica, retiring in 2004.
Gil and Ludy moved to Florida and were members of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood, FL.
When he was raising his family in Pennsylvania, Gil was very active in his church and was a founding member and past president of the Filipino American Association of Bucks County, Inc. (FAABCI). He was loved by many and most remembered for his positive, "can do" attitude and winning smile. He enjoyed playing mahjong, scrabble and chess and loved his time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Lourdes (Castrence) Leynes; children: Ronald Leynes and his wife Kimberly (Nawrocki) Leynes, Leslie Smith and her husband Dan Smith, Nora Lee DeCristofano and her husband Bill DeCristofano, Robert Leynes, and Rosemarie Dragotta; siblings: Josefa Legaspi, Domingo Leynes (deceased), Henie Leynes, Gregorio Leynes (deceased), Lorenza Cortez and Thelma Lydzustre; nine grandchildren: Ericka, Gabrielle, Kristin, Sierra, Jarod, Teagan, Cruz, Tate and Leo James.
A resurrection mass will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wildwood, FL.
