Dear Shackles Family, I was saddened to learn of your/our tremendous loss. I was so fortunate to be able to get re-connected with Mr. Shackles (cannot call him Bob) through Facebook. It was a wonderful way to learn about the past and share hopes for our future. It was a special treat that he and I could discuss his and my father's Airborne service. I truly treasured all of the items he posted to educate us all about the WAR and the important service the paratroopers provided and continue to provide during times of strife. Most importantly, he was my Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church in Independence, Ks., and was very important in helping shape the person I am today. He is my favorite Sunday School teacher of all time. I truly felt over all of this time that there was never any distance or lapse in time after we re-connected. I will miss him so very much. Please know the entire Jarrett family sends its sincere and heartfelt condolences to you. I/We love you very much.
