Joseph E Symonds' Obituary
Joseph E. Symonds, 71, of Wildwood went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 28, 2016. Joe was born November 6, 1944 in Wildwood to Rev. Charles Alfred and Emily (Lundquist) Symonds. He was a lifelong resident and had retired as a truck driver for Florida Power, then worked for Banks/Page-Theus for 13 years before retiring again. Joe was a member of Oxford Assembly of God Church and was on the Praise and Worship Team there. Joe loved gospel singing and was in many gospel groups over the years, most recently as a vocalist and harmonica player for the Sonset Band. He loved the Lord, his family and everyone he came into contact with. Joe truly served our Lord and ministered through his actions and love. Survivors include his loving wife of 17 years, Jean; children, Traci and Curtis McClung of Wiersdale, Aaron and Samantha Symonds of Oxford, Paige and Bill Holt of Fruitland Park, Dana and Stephen Ulmer of Gainesville; grandchildren, Brycen, Emma, Carson, Maddie, Piper, Hannah and Charlotte. Visitation will be held 5:00 – 8:00pm, Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in the Oxford Assembly of God Church with the funeral service at 11:00am, Wednesday, June 1st in the church and interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Wildwood. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon’s or the ministries of the Oxford Assembly of God Church.
