Dear Terry,It was with great sadness that I read of the passing of Joe. He ment so much to me in my early years of teaching in Brewster. His encouragement and help were instrumental in my not only staying in the profession, but also realizing the importance of it. I had not seen Joe since our years at Wells, but he was always in my mind. I work with young teachers in graduate school and often share ideas,stories, and thoughts he taught me with them. Dear Terry, Brian and Kim,Karen and I were very saddened to hear of Joe's passing.I have many wonderful memories of our years working together at Henry Wells.He was a very caring friend and administrator who helped me navigate the beginning of my 33 year teaching career. I have spoken to so many of Joe's classmates and the over-riding emotions are of profound shock and a deep sense of loss. At the same time, there is an abundance of gratitude as well - gratitude for having known him, for having shared his sense of humor, his school years in the little town of Bethpage, L.I., his pride in his family, his ability to separate what's important in life and his capacity to share what he learned in that warm, humane and loving way he always had. We are grateful as well for having shared precious hours at our 50th Reunion, several months ago. And, most of all, We Will Always Remember Our Joe. It was with much sadness that I read about Joe's passing. We were neighbors, so spent alot of time hanging out!
