John William Lucas' Obituary
John W. “Buddy” Lucas, 68, of Jacksonville, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015. Mr. Lucas was born September 28, 1946 in Leesburg, FL to Samuel F. and Doris (Haley) Lucas. He was of the Baptist Faith. Buddy graduated from Wildwood High School with the class of 1965. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran and had lived in North Florida for most of his adult life moving to Jacksonville in 1971. He had retired from CSX Railroad as a dispatcher after 41 years of service. He enjoyed golfing, but mostly loved to watch and cheer for his grandchildren playing sports. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Barbara; children, Brian Lucas of N.C., Stephanie Brookshire of Jacksonville, Shannon Parmenter of Jacksonville and Jonathan Parish of St. Augustine; sister, Beth Lucas Garrett of Orlando; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Visitation for Buddy will be 6:00 – 8:00pm, Monday, August 24, 2015 in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Tuesday, August 25th in the First Baptist Church of Wildwood with interment in Pine Level Cemetery, Oxford. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of North East Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32257 or The Prostate Cancer Foundation.
