James Quintin Roop Jr.'s Obituary
James Quintin Roop, Jr. 63, of Oxford, Florida, passed on March 10, 2013, at his home. Jimmy was born on April 6, 1949 in Wildwood, Florida to his parents James Q. Sr. and Bobbie P. Roop. A lifelong resident of Florida, "Jim Quin", as he was known by his listening audience, was employed with C.B.S. Radio as an “On-Air” Personality, Programmer and Producer for over 30 years. After retiring from radio, he returned to law enforcement as a Private Detective. His interests included music and songwriting, gardening and making his own hot sauce. He was truly a loving father and a devoted son. He is survived by his sons: James Q. Roop III of Duluth, Ga., Ashley Roop of Atlanta, Ga. and Joshua Roop of Tarpon Springs, Fl; mother: Bobbie Roop of Oxford, FL; two brothers: Mitchell and Kenneth; two sisters: Terry and Priscilla. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 3:00pm at the Wildwood United Methodist Church in Wildwood. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in Jim Roop, Jr.'s name to the Florida Sheriff's Association Memorial at P.O. Box 1251, Tallahassee, Fl 32317.
