Gilbert A Titus' Obituary
Gilbert A. “Gib” Titus, 84, of Wildwood, entered into rest on Monday, February 7, 2011. He was born in Kokomo, Indiana, the son of Ralph and Mabel Titus. On November 22, 1947 he married Gertrude Phyllis Bourff, who passed away February 6, 2006. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, a member of the Wildwood United Methodist Church, the Wildwood Masonic Lodge #92, F&AM, the Scottish Rite and Shrine in Indiana and the American Legion Post 18, Wildwood. Gib was a fireman in Kokomo retiring after 20 years of service and moving to Florida where he managed the “Sea Rocket Motel”, “Emerald Isles Motel” and “Juniors Steakhouse” in North Redington from 1968 – 1974. He then moved to Wildwood in 1975 where he owned and operated the Hearty Host Campground and Wildwood Estates until 1994. Gib was a generous, hardworking and carin g husband, father and friend. He was a Wildwood resident for 35 years and will be missed by his family, friends and the community. Survivors include his sons, Steve (Debbie) of Noblesville, Indiana; Mark of Kokomo, Indiana and Tom (Maureen) of Pinellas Park; a daughter, Theresa (Jacques) Skutt of Wildwood; sisters, Euladene Ray of Ft. Meyers and Ruth Mitcham of Kokomo, Indiana; 5 grandchildren, Ian (Jenny) Titus, Andrianne (Bob) Petty, Christina (Joey) Busby, Ricky Oglesby and Brandon Titus; 4 great grandchildren, Gavin Busby, Caleb Busby, Becca Petty and Izaak Petty. It was Gib’s request that no public memorial service be held. The family appreciates the prayers and support that has been offered to our father during his final days.
