Deborah S. Baker's Obituary
Deborah S. Baker, 60, Oxford, Florida passed away on January 14, 2017 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg, Florida with her loving family by her side. Debbie was born on March 3, 1956 in Ocala, Florida to her parents Chester Grady Strickland and Joan (Glenn) Strickland. Debbie was an Administrative Assistant for Farner & Barley Inc, and had worked for the Sprint Telephone Company in the management field for over 20 years. She was a lifelong resident of Wildwood and Oxford and was a member of the Wildwood Church of Christ. She volunteered as a Guardian Ad Litem helping many children. Debbie also served in the mission fields of Guyana helping to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years: James R. Baker of Oxford, FL; her mother: Joan Strickland of Oxford, FL; a son: Bryan Baker of Fruitland Park, FL; two daughters: Lana (Lee) Vernon of Oxford, FL and Tara Strickland (Matt) of Wildwood, FL; three sisters: Cathy Johnson of Defuniak Springs, FL, Donna Rogers of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Tammy Farner of Oxford, FL; five grandchildren: Chase Baker, Bailee Vernon, Ashlynn Vernon, Kai Baker and Whitley Strickland and many loving nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 10:30AM at Pine Level Cemetery, Oxford, Florida. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to The American Cancer Society in Deborah’s loving memory. On-line condolences may be shared by visiting www.bankspagetheus.com.
