Uncle David, this is your nephew Josh. I know you’re somewhere looking down on me right now just laughing cause I joined the navy. You always wanted the best for me and loved me with everything you had. Before I shipped to bootcamp Dec 16th 2021 you told me that you felt that might be the last time we talked I joking said there’s no way I have to call you the day I graduate bootcamp, if only you knew you were the reason I joined. I joined the navy so I could be a hospital corpsman and be in the medical field like you and saves life’s like you instead of taking them. Feb 11 2022 was the day I graduated I was so excited to see my caitlynn, Ang my papa and nanie on there side but the promise I made was to all you, I called probably 100 times and no answer I figured you were sleeping or maybe just weren’t by the phone so I waited and waited and waited. You passed on Feb 10th the day after I graduated I didn’t find out till April. I didn’t know what to think or feel but I know if you could tell me anything it be not to worry man hahaha you always had a way of making people laugh no matter how serious things got. If I could tell you anything uncle David it’s that I should have joined the army hahaha I love you tell we meet again I love you uncle David
Thank you for your service
Dear David, a brother, friend, father, husband, cousin but most of all a saver of lives, thank you for being a great person. Thank you for the love and kindness that you showed to many wounded warriors on the battlefield. Due directly to your commitment and bravery you were able to save many lives. Seeing so much carnage and atrocities does have consequences as you know, and you brought many horrible sights and smells back home with you from battle. You have suffered a lot but now you are free, you're free from the atrocities, you're free from pain and now you can live freely. You're a true warrior and have served your country with Honor and Dignity. You are a true hero to the ones that you saved. I pray and hope that one day there will be a military service for you. You have earned that right and deserve to be honored in such a fashion. Hopefully one day I will be able to visit you and the many other family veterans in the Bushnell National Cemetery. So, for now enjoy your pain-free life and live it up with the rest of the heavenly family. Love ya Hero!!
