Arthur C. King's Obituary
Arthur C. King 83, of Wildwood, Fl, born in Lynbrook, NY October 5, 1932, passed away peacefully from complications associated with Alzheimer's Disease. He was an U.S.Army Veteran serving during the Korean War as an MP personally attending to driving General Truman in Atlanta along with other duties including a major contributor to the Army Headquarters Baseball Team! After his Honorable Discharge as a Sergeant, Art went on to work for his brother Bill where he got his Plumbing experience. In New Hampshire he worked for several large constructions firms as a Inspector/Estimator having a license to work in Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire. Among the jobs were Hospitals, Schools and even Okemo & Stowe Ski Resorts. In 1994, Art, as he was known by all, moved from Keene, NH to Wildwood, Fl joining the crew working on the construction of the Coleman Correction Facility in Coleman, Fl. He retired in 2004 as Quality Control Manager with Clark Construction Co. for the last phase of this project but still was called upon to help with other projects ie. start- up the Salters, SC Facility and Barracks at Hunter Army Airbase in Savannah, Ga. Then it was time to really retire in 2006!
Art and Buddy (his Golden Retriever and true buddy 1998-2012) would go out on the Golf Course at Continental Country Club and look for all the balls that the duffers left behind. (For the FOX NEWS STORY see YOUTUBE/LAUREEN KING... 2009 when the count was 16,000 balls ). When Buddy passed the count was 24,001 since count started in 2008. These balls went to the Pro shop for use on the Driving Range. Art loved singing at Karaoke, Among his favorites are "Unchained Melody" & "Some Enchanted Evening " which described how he and his wife met in 1993 at his sisters retirement party from the ministry. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Laureen King of Wildwood, FL, a daughter Laura A. King, Manhattan, NY, two sons, Kevin A. King (wife Patty) of Hoschton, GA and Douglas K. King of Spartanburg, SC, a grandson, Zachary Ahrensfield, US Marine Corps, Camp Pendleton, San Diego, CA, two sisters, Rev. Emma Pat Filiault of Valley Stream, NY and Elenore Shepard of St. James, NY and many loving nieces and nephews. Art was preceded in death by his parents William Arthur King and Anna T. Skabelund, and a brother,William King.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Continental Country Club, Wildwood, FL on Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Veterans Memorial Garden, weather permitting otherwise the Magnolia Room. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers, his wife has requested donations be made to Alzheimer's & Dementia Resource Center, 1506 Lake Highland Dr. Orlando, FL 32803 in memory of Mr. Arthur C.King..
