Alvin Edsel Dunnem, 74, of Summerfield, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014. Alvin was predeceased by his wife Judith (Lord) and is survived by his 4 children; Kyle Marie (Greg) Southworth of Braintree, VT, James Edward Dunnem of Davenport, FL, Kimberly Ann (Anthony) Vellucci of Fuquay Varina, NC, David Marshall (Peg) Dunnem of Stratford, Ontario, Ca; and his brother, Ed (Sharon) Dunnem of Sulpher Rock, AR along with 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.
Maj. Dunnem (U.S. Army Retired) was born October 29, 1939 in Pomona, CA to the late Alvin Edward and Pauline Louise (Bryant) Dunnem. He was a retired Green Beret and Attorney. While serving his country he served 1 tour in Korea and 3 tours in Vietnam. After retiring, Al attended Law School in South Royalton, VT, and started his second career as an attorney. Retiring again, Al spent several years traveling the country with his wife, Judie before he settled in Florida, where he lived on his boat "Serenity" for several years before buying a home in Summerfield.
Al was an active member of the Secondhand Eagles and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
A memorial service will be held in the future.
