Is this the Alvin Dunnem who was a captain at the PAO office of the 5th Recruiting District at Fort Sam Houston 1972 and 1973? If so, I worked for him and both respected and admired him.

Al commanded Battery A, 2d Bn (HAWK) 71st ADA in Kimpo Korea in 1968-1969. I first met him when surveying his compound, Camp Bray, in the March - April timeframe of that year. He impressed me from the start as the first active duty commender I met. He was a fine officer and a very good man; serious and friendly and very bright. I have very good memories from our short time together. I was the battalion signal officer stationed at Camp Red Cloud in Uijeongbu, several miles east of Al's location. I met him in his BOQ at Camp Bray on my first visit to ask permission to survey his tactical site for upgrades to his communications system. He gave me carte blanche and I went to work. He was the best officer I ever met and he was pleased to receive me and my technicians and gave us all the support we could ask for. His was the best of our tactical batteries because he was the best battery commander.

Dear Dunnem Family,
I am so sorry to just find out about Al. We only worked together a short while at the DVA but we got along well. Al always had a good story to tell. He had a very beautiful bride too who was always a pleasure to see.
Again I am sorry for your loss.
