Wresh, Albert Michael's Obituary
Albert (Al) Michael Wresh, 89, of Wildwood, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2025. Al was born July 25, 1935, in Washington, D.C., to Joseph Paul and Kathryn Bertha (Majchrowicz) Wresh and spent his formative years in Sparrows Point, Maryland. It was here on a blind date that he met his future wife, Mary Margaret Burke.
Al graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Civil Engineering and held a variety of roles throughout his career. He tested milk samples for Dairy Testing Labs, worked as a draftsman designing machines for Burt Machine Company and Martin Marietta, created explosive weapons and ammunition designs for AAI, and ultimately served as a Plant Engineer for Armco Steel - a position that brought him and his family to Wildwood in 1972.
Outside of his professional life, Al was a man of many talents. A gifted woodworker and accomplished pianist, he also found great joy in golfing, square dancing, and round dancing. His heart for service shone through in many ways - whether playing the organ at church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, or Minister to the Sick - all a reflection of his deep faith. Known affectionately in his neighborhood as “Mr. Fix-it,” Al was always ready to lend a hand and share his skills with others.
Of all his hobbies, woodworking remained his greatest passion. With love and care, he crafted beds, swings, chairs, bookshelves, and countless other treasures for his children and grandchildren. Among his proudest creations were a grandmother’s clock - still ticking today - and the woodworking shop addition he built onto his home.
Al’s children and grandchildren will best remember their “Pap pap” as the quiet, caring, sharing, wise man who cherished his time with family, playing games, helping with school projects, and piano lessons, enjoying vacations, and telling the corniest jokes.
Al is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary M. Wresh of Wildwood, FL; his children, William (Jeana) Wresh of Clermont, Stephen Wresh of Fruitland Park, Theresa Wresh (Steve Sanchez) of Tampa, and Patricia (Edward) Farrell of Ocklawaha; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson and is deeply missed by his family. He leaves behind the legacy of a devoted husband, a loving father, and a man whose quiet and steadfast faith touched everyone who knew him.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood. Inurnment will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 1:00PM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg. The family requests guests wear bright colors to celebrate Al’s life and Resurrection.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Al’s memory.
