Al and Mary welcomed my parents, Bob & Louise Long when they moved into Rolling Hills 50 years ago. A warm friendship that lasted for the next 30 years. Many cookouts and casual get togethers. Mom & Dad's annual Christmas tree decorating party would not have been as warm and lively without the entire Wresh family being there and leading sing alongside. So many wonderful memories.
As Dad aged, Al just quietly started helping my parents the many little things that need to be done. Every month like clockwork Al would show up and take care of the water treatment system. I don't know if he truly realized how much his kindnesses meant to my parents and how much peace of mind it gave my father in his later years, and to me & JT a 1,000 miles away.
After 10 years away I recently had the great blessing to visit with Al & Mary on Mary's birthday. It felt like a family reunion to get to spend time with both of them that afternoon.
He was smart, sharp, kind and humble, and never afraid to attack any task, a rare combination.
The world was a better place because of him.
