William J. Rogers Sr.'s Obituary
William J. Rogers, Sr., 90, Wildwood, Florida passed away on July 15, 2017 at his residence under the loving care of his family and staff of Cornerstone Hospice. Mr. Rogers was born on April 19, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to his parents Calvin and Stella Rogers. He worked for Warren Consolidated Schools in Warren, Michigan retiring as Supervisor of Maintenance. During his life he served Past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus and also served as President of AFSCME Local 1346. He and his loving wife of 73 years, Betty, established and successfully operated numerous businesses throughout his lifetime including the Onekama Laundromat in Onekama, Michigan and, most recently, Betty's Deer Trail in Freesoil, Michigan. He was a proud veteran of World War II where he served as a Merchant Marine under the command of the U.S. Coast Guard. He and Betty were members of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Wildwood, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Betty Rogers; three sons: William J. Rogers, Jr. and his wife Gloria of Michigan, David W. Rogers and his wife Patricia of California and James M. Rogers and his wife Teresa of North Carolina; three daughters: Judy Cetlinski of Florida, Linda Adam and her husband A.J. of Florida and Anne Kline and her husband Ken of Michigan; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his son-in-law, James Cetlinski, earlier this year. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 2:00PM at Banks, Page-Theus Funeral Home, Wildwood, Florida with a Gathering prior to the service from 1:00PM till the hour of service at the funeral home.
