Dr. William Edward "Bill" Murray's Obituary
Dr. William Edward “Bill” Murray, 83, The Villages, FL
Dr. William Edward “Bill” Murray, 83, of The Villages died July 11, 2017 in The Villages, FL.
Born August 8, 1933, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, he is survived by his wife June Louise (Brady) Murray of The Villages, FL; his sons, William Edward Murray Jr. of Leonardtown, MD; Robert Alvay Murray of Ocala, FL; Timothy Lee Murray of Leonardtown, MD; Dr. Stephen Frederick Murray of Leonardtown, MD; Jonathan Alan Murray of Summerfield, FL; and his daughter Tambria Louise (Murray) Butler of Herndon, VA. He was predeceased by his sons, Michael Anthony Murray, and Patrick Michael Murray.
Dr. Murray served as a chiropractor in Leonardtown, MD in his private practice for 41 years before retiring to Florida with his wife June, in 1999. On the outside, Dr. Murray came across as a rather stoic individual but, to family and friends who knew him best Bill was a prankster at heart with always a joke, laugh, or jest waiting to come out. He was a man who dedicated his life to helping those around him through his career as a chiropractic doctor and his years of military service in the army from 1955-1957 as a military policeman. Bill was an avid golfer who enjoyed nothing more than playing a few rounds on the green with friends or his sons and grandsons, or enjoying western marathons of his hero John Wayne in his favorite recliner. Along with his wife, Bill was a very active member of his church Open Bible Lutheran Church in The Villages. To the people who reside in The Villages, Bill is remembered as the man always zipping around town in his blue and white Shelby Cobra golf cart. To those of us who knew him best, his family and friends, Dr. Murray will be remembered as a remarkable man-intelligent, wise beyond his years, comedic, and a deeply caring individual who loved his family, lived a life of fulfillment, and embodied the quote, “After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.”
