Walter "Bennie" Pittman's Obituary
Walter “Bennie” Pittman, 83, of Oxford, passed away April 23, 2020 in Ocala. Bennie was born
on July 12, 1936 in Waycross, Georgia to Walter B. and Bessie Mae (Phillips) Pittman Sr.
Bennie moved to Oxford as a child and lived here all his life. He married Linda Thompson in
July 1972 and they had two children. He retired from the Railroad after over 30 years as a car
inspector. Bennie loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and running his Rabbit Dogs.
Bennie is survived by his son Troy Pittman of Tampa, daughter Shana Hawkins of Summerfield,
granddaughters Daila Danford, and Stefanie (Joseph) Hartman, great-grandson Howie, sisters
Elizabeth Terry of oxford, Joan Kilgoar of Ocklawaha, Delores Hunter of Leesburg, and Rhonda
(Wayne) McLucas of Oxford.
Bennie is preceded in death by his parents and wife Linda.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Pine Level Cemetery
in Oxford.
The family requests that Social Distancing and Covid 19 precautions are observed. The funeral
home will provide a PA System so those that wish may stay in their cars to listen to the service.
