Virginia Lee Petty's Obituary
Virginia Lee Petty, 94, Eagle Lake, Florida went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2021 at her residence under the loving care of her family. Virginia was born on October 22, 1926 in Wichita, Kansas to her parents Clarence Smith and Cora Lee (Scott) Smith. She was a former Parts Clerk for the Transportation Department for the Polk County School District. Virginia moved to Central Florida in 1971 from Hammond, Indiana. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of The First Baptist Church of Eagle Lake, Florida. She is survived by her four daughters: Dixie Welch and her husband Neil of De Motte, IN, Verna Beckett and her husband Larry of Winter Haven, FL, Karen Rose of Hammond, IN and Linda Fogarty and her husband Chuck of Highland, IN; two sons: Russell Laughlin of Eagle Lake, FL and Keith Laughlin of Attica, IN; two sisters: Nada Smith and Ldora Laughlin both of Bridgeport, IL; ten grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and two nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Mickey Petty who was the former Mayor of Eagle Lake, Florida. The family will be having a private family service at a later date.
