Violet Kain Phillips' Obituary
Violet Kain Phillips, 89, of Williston went home to be with her Lord on Friday, January 11, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and under the care of Hospice of Citrus County of the Nature Coast. Mrs. Phillips was born November 9, 1923, to Frank and Gertie (Kendall) Kain in Lansing, Michigan. She moved to Marion County when she was seven years old, married at age 16 and raised her 4 children with her loving husband, Lincoln. As a homemaker she became an excellent seamstress, organizer, cook and canned fresh produce from the garden and fruit trees. She also played the piano by ear and loved reading books of spiritual growth and her Bible. She obtained her high school diploma after her children were raised. She has lived in many towns and cities in Florida. Survivors include her daughters, Emmogene Phillips of Winter Park and Barbara Kirby of Williston; sons, Larry Phillips of Lakeland and John Phillips of Highland City; sister, Mae Mercer of Land O Lakes; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren along with 1 great-great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in the Banks/Page-Theus Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Pine Level Cemetery, Oxford.
