Vernon James McLemore's Obituary
Vernon James McLemore, age 88, a resident of Charleston, Mo formerly of Wildwood, passed away at his daughter’s home in Charleston Friday March 22, 2013.
Born June 28, 1924 at Hayford, Alabama, to the late Harvey Franklin & Addie Dees McLemore, Vernon lived in Charleston for the past 4 years moving from Wildwood where he lived for over 50 years and was a member of the Church of God in Wildwood. He was retired from the Minute Maid Company in Leesburg. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Navy. In May of 1942 he married Ramona Effie Hudgins who preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Charles McLemore of Hardy, Arkansas and Terry & Teresa McLemore of Webster; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Priscilla Clark of Pensacola, Dorothy Kilpatrick of Kingston, N.C., Janette & Ray Smith of Leesburg and Patricia and Mike Telker of Charleston, Mo; five brothers, Ray McLemore of Kennett, Mo, Richard McLemore of Hayti, Mo, Floyd McLemore of Braggadocio, Mo, Edward McLemore of Sikeston, Mo and Edgar McLemore of Anniston, Mo; one sister, Gladys Dobbins of Hayti, Mo; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and many friends.
Besides his parents and wife, one son, Jerry McLemore; one daughter Carolyn Edington; two brothers, Jimmy McLemore and Junior McLemore; four sisters, Marie Chavis, Bonnie Vaugh, Dorothy Kutz and an infant sister; five grandchildren, Terry David Cumpton, Dallas Williams, Clyde Merrill McLemore, Bridgett Edington and Christine Marie Hastings preceded Vernon in death.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 27 in the Banks, Page-Theus Funeral Home in Wildwood with funeral services following on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Wildwood. On-line condolences may be shared by visiting www.banks-pagetheus.com.
