Vaughn Roy West's Obituary
Vaughn Roy West, 80, of The Villages, FL, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his home. Vaughn West, the son of I. C. and Jennie Quien was born in Hettinger, ND on March 1, 1929. After 21 years of service with the U.S Army, he retired with the rank of Major, where he proudly served in the Korean and Vietnam wars as a Helicopter Pilot. His second career at Coastal Equipment Co. in Va. Beach, VA spanned 19 years, where he was a salesman of John Deere heavy construction equipment. He moved to The Villages in 2006 from Virginia Beach, VA. He is a member of the American Legion Post 347 in Lady Lake, FL, the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, the 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion Association, 4th Transportation Company, Korean War Veterans Alliance, and the Old Aviators Association. He enjoyed golf, travel and working on his home. Survivors include his daughters, Holly West of Newport News, VA. and Tricia Firestone of Spokane, WA; sons, Randall West of San Diego, CA and Michael West of Spokane, WA; close family friends, Janice Van Houweling of Virginia Beach, VA and Jack Atkins of Bozeman, MT. The family will receive friends 5:00 - 7:00pm, Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in the Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 12:30pm, Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bozeman Public Library for benefit of the Military History section, 626 E. Main St., Bozeman, MT 59715.
