Tommy Hurst's Obituary
Tommy Hurst, 65, Oxford, Florida, went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2013 in Leesburg, Fl. surrounded by his loving family. Tommy was born on October 28, 1947 in Gainesville, Florida to his parents Joseph Loren Hurst and Jacqueline W. Hurst. Former Public Works Director of Sumter County with over 42 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Sumter County and was also active as a Farmer in the Oxford area for many years. A lifelong resident of Oxford, Fl and also served in the Florida National Guard during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Oxford and a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and was quite proud to watch his grandsons when they played in outdoor sporting events. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Dee “Nonie” Hurst of Oxford, Fl; a son: Ken “Melanie” Hurst of Oxford, FL; mother: Jackie “Nana” Hurst of Oxford, Fl; a brother: Terry Hurst of Oxford, Fl; two grandsons: Garrett Hurst and Jarrod “Bubby” Hurst of Oxford, FL and many loving nieces and nephews and many loving grand-nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 12:00PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Oxford, Florida with Visitation from 10:00AM till the hour of service at the church. Burial to follow service at Pine Level Cemetery, Oxford, FL. The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations to be made in Tommy’s loving memory to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Oxford, Florida.
