Thomas Eugene Maddox's Obituary
Thomas Eugene Maddox, Jr., 92, of Wildwood passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012. Mr. Maddox was born December 10, 1919 in Waldo, Fl. and moved to Wildwood in 1924 from there. He and his wife, Frances moved to the Sterling House in Leesburg a few years ago. He was a graduate of Wildwood High School and then began working as a switchman for Seaboard Railroad and retiring from CSX Railroad. He is a member of St. Andrews Orthodox Church in Eustis and a member of the United Transportation Union. He was a quiet man who enjoyed traveling, reading and cross-word puzzles. Survivors include his loving wife, Frances Lytle Maddox; sister, Shirley (Hollie) Popham of Lake Panasoffkee; brother, Bill (Ginny) Maddox of Perry and a host of nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by 3 siblings, Leda Belle Shoemaker, Jacqueline Gatch and Hitup “Skip” Maddox. A graveside funeral service for Mr. Maddox will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery, Fruitland Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Gene’s name to Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, Inc., P. O. Box 2000, Boys Ranch, Florida 32064.
