Thomas Preston Caruthers' Obituary
Thomas Preston “TP” Caruthers, Jr, 88, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016. Mr. Caruthers was born in Oxford to Thomas Preston and Hattye Jewel (Bowman) Caruthers. TP was a lifelong resident of Oxford and retired farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oxford and had attended there all of his life including the 9 months prior to being born. TP was a dedicated Christian and demonstrated it on a daily basis. He enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as going to his cabin in the Dillsboro / Sylva, NC area. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Betty; children, Reggie and Kay Caruthers, Rodney and Lynn Caruthers and Rick and Jamie Caruthers all of Oxford; 6 grandchildren, Beau, Rhett, Jessica, Destiny, Kadi and Kacey; 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 10:00-11:00am with the service beginning at 11:00am, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in the First Baptist Church of Oxford. Interment will follow in Pine Level Cemetery, Oxford. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Ministry at First Baptist Church of Oxford, P.O. Box 5, Oxford, FL 34484.
