Pastor Terry Edward Ruther's Obituary
Pastor Terry Edward Ruther, 70, The Villages, Florida passed away on March 12, 2016 at his residence under the loving care of his family and staff of Kindred at Home Hospice of Marion County. Terry was born on April 9, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio to his parents Edward Sylvester Ruther and Virginia (Riggen) Ruther. Pastor Ruther had served the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, serving at St. Paul Lutheran, Defiance, Ohio from 1971 to 1972; Trinity Lutheran, Richmond, Michigan from 1972 to 1980; Zion Lutheran, Waterville, Ohio from 1980 to 1986; Divinity Lutheran, Parma Heights, Ohio from 1986 to 1995; Zion Lutheran, Loudonville, Ohio from 1995 to 2008. Pastor Ruther retired to The Villages, Florida in 2010 and was serving as a Visitation Pastor at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church in Wildwood, Florida from 2013 to 2016. He enjoyed sports, photography and loved to travel with his wife Royce. Pastor Ruther leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years Royce Ruther of The Villages, FL; sons: Christopher Ruther of Cleveland, OH and Joshua Ruther of Lakeville, OH; a sister: Gail Louise MacNellis of Kalamazoo, MI; a grandchild: Jacqueline Rose Ruther of Olmsted Falls, OH and a niece and a nephew. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 10:00AM at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church in Wildwood, Florida. There will also be a Memorial Service for Pastor Ruther on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 10:00AM at Divinity Lutheran Church in Parma Heights, Ohio with a Gathering from 9:00AM till the hour of service. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to Rock of Ages Lutheran Church Building Fund or Kindred at Home Hospice of Marion County in Pastor Terry’s loving memory.
