Teddie Arlington "Teddy" Ward's Obituary
Teddie Arlington “Teddy” Ward, 82, Melrose, Florida passed away on February 5, 2025 at Magnolia Ridge Rehabilitation Center, Gainesville, Florida. Teddy was born on February 12, 1942 in Vero Beach, Florida to his parents Crevie Jackson Ward and Daisy (Quattlebaum) Ward.
Teddy was a Recreation Director for the Veterans Administration with over 18 years of devoted service to our veterans. He moved to Melrose, Florida in 1988 from Virginia Beach, Virginia. Teddy served his country proudly in the United States Coast Guard as a Hospital Corpsman. He was of the Christian faith and attended Fresh Start Fellowship in Keystone Heights, Florida. Teddy was very active in his church and was a proud Gator fan supporting his alma mater University of Florida, where he received his master’s degree. He loved and was very proud of his children, grandchildren and his two great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years: Tonya Ward of Melrose, FL; three sons: Peter Ward of Gainesville, FL, Andrew Ward of Lexington, KY and David Ward and his fiancé Hunter Marsh of Keystone Heights, FL; two daughters: Heidi Spartz and her husband Thomas of Orlando, FL, Katie Thomas and her husband Marcus of Lake Worth Beach, FL and a step-daughter: Jennifer Coville and her husband, Galen of Middleburg, FL; two sisters: Lena Adler and her husband Ken of Keystone Heights, FL and Mae Frank Bishop of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren: Lindsay Mason and her husband Jordan, Ryan Spartz and his wife Emily, Ethan Ward, Mackenzie Thomas, Ty Thomas and Austin Ward; two great-grandchildren: Noah Mason and Madeline Mason as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Teddy was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Fred Carlton Ward and a sister, Mary Glass.
Celebration of life funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 11:00AM with a gathering of family and friends at the funeral home at 10:00AM till the hour of service. Burial to follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida with military honors.
The family has requested donation to The Michael J. Fox foundation for Parkinson’s Research at give.michaeljfox.org in Teddy’s loving memory.
