Shirley June Lambright's Obituary
Shirley June Mostert Lambright, 87, of Avon Park, FL, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home, on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
She was born in Holly Hill, FL, on Monday, February 15, 1937, to Harry George Mostert and Cora Brown Mostert. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Charles Seward Lambright on March 30, 2022. She is survived by four sons, Wayne (Vealda), Ron (Irene), Mike and Dan (Karen), eleven wonderful grandchildren, and 17 wonderful great grandchildren.
Shirley grew up in Holly Hill, FL. At 17, she was a majorette in the Mainland High School band and caught the eye of Charles Lambright, the band captain. They fell in love and were married on June 6, 1954. By 1960 they had completed their family of four sons. She spent her life by her husband’s side, raising their family, building houses, and appraising homes and commercial properties in Florida.
She was calm, easy going and unflappable. After the antics of four rambunctious boys, nothing fazed her too much. She spent most of her marriage keeping Charles from doing anything too crazy. Charles built her a beautiful brick house with elaborate arches, tile paintings and gardens on Lake Denton and she was so proud of her Castle de Lambright. They traveled extensively once he retired, mostly to parts of Europe and the Caribbean. They supported the arts and theater at South Florida State College. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved music and played the piano in her leisure time. She loved to sew. She could make anything, from her children’s suits to home decor. She also loved to crochet, and she enjoyed making gifts for everyone in the family. Since she only had sons, she especially enjoyed making beautiful dresses for her granddaughters, once they came along.
She adored her grand and great grandchildren. She was always there with a kind smile, a listening ear and a generous heart. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will always have fond memories of the times they spent with her.
Services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Chapel of Peace at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, FL. Visitation will be at 11 am with service immediately following at Noon.
