Aunt Shir was the kindest, best aunt anyone could ever wish for. She and my uncle were such a wonderful team, him the early bird and her the night owl.
So loving and kind, always ready to give us a cold glass of iced tea and let us run around in the woods around their house.
When my grandparents retired, they let them park their manufactured home on their farm, where they were safe and had their companionship just 150 yards down the road. We grew up knowing we could see them, have a chat, and know we were loved.
This kind of beautiful gift of God doesn’t happen often. Truly they were blessings from the Lord.
I remember when I worked for them for their nursery and greenhouse. To this day that was my favorite job, no matter how dirty I got, because I got to spend time with them.
I will never forget my aunt’s laugh, like bells ringing in sunshine. She was so cheerful and full of life. It reminds me of that verse, "A joyful heart makes a cheerful countenance, / But by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken." (Proverbs 15:13) RcV
She was a person who embodied a joyful heart, and it blessed everyone who knew her. Although I will miss her, I know she is rejoicing in her Lord’s presence and enjoying the His direct presence, and the peace and joy of Paradise.
Now night owl and early bird will be on the same time schedule, eternity.
Beloved, best aunt who ever lived. I will miss you, but I know I will see you again.
Xoxo
Julie
