Ruth Ann Porter's Obituary
Ruth Ann Porter, 79, of The Villages passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018. Mrs. Porter was born April 23, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA to Walter L. and Rachel (May) Schafer. She was a retired surgical assistant and moved to The Villages in 2016 from Washington, PA. Ruth Ann volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the hospitals in Pittsburgh and Washington, PA. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Oxford. Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Cyrus; children, Daniel & Jill Porter of Amherst, OH and Linda & Dallas Edmiston of The Villages; sister, Mildred Worstell of Cannonsburg, PA; brother, William Schafer of Cecil, PA; 5 grandsons, Patrick Porter, Ian Porter, Sean Porter, Jeremy & Florence Edmiston and Jason Edmiston; 2 great-grandchildren, Amelia Edmiston and Noah Edmiston. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Robert Williams, Walter Schafer, & Wib Schafer. Ruth Ann’s family will celebrate her life 11:00am, Friday, January 26, 2018 in the Faith Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org or the Salvation Army, www.give.salvationarmyusa.org.
