Russell Charles Rankin Jr's Obituary
Russell Charles Rankin, Jr., 52, of Wildwood, FL, unexpectedly went to be with his
Lord Friday, June 12, 2020. Russ was born January 31, 1968, in Ocala. He moved
many times in his life, which included Bryson City, NC; Reno, NV; Long Island, NY;
Santa Fe, and Seabrook, TX. Russ worked for many years as a Homeowner
Consultant and Sales Representative for The Villages and was presently working as
a stylist at Cal’s Barber & Beauty in Brownwood. He formerly owned several local
businesses. He was a member of Meadowbrook Church, Ocala. Russ was a charter
member of the Galveston West Beach Lions Club, Texas, and a member of the
Rotary Club of Wildwood. Russ was a master woodworker, an avid golfer, loved
boating and fishing. He loved to laugh and was always with a smile, woke up happy
every day and never found fault with anyone. He absolutely loved everyone. He
was a huge Florida Gator fan. He loved to entertain & sing! Russ sang at church
throughout his life. He was truly a man of God; a model Christian and his family
can rest assured he is with his Lord.
Survivors include his loving wife, Brenda (Crego), son Dustin Tanner Rankin &
granddaughter Melody Ramsey Rankin, both of League City, TX, parents Gloria &
Russell Rankin, Sr., of Leesburg and brother Rayne Rankin with Linda Trombetta of
The Villages, his mother & father-in-law, James & Linda Crego from Silver Springs,
FL, and sister-in-law, Cyndy Crego with Tommy Light, from Silver Springs, FL.
Russ’ family & friends are invited to celebrate his life at 11:00 am, Saturday, June
20, 2020 at his home, 5265 CR 114D, Wildwood, FL, followed by an open house BBQ
reception throughout the afternoon. The service will be live streamed on YouTube.
