Mu heartfelt condolences to Rose's family and many friends and colleagues. We met while working at the American College of Surgeons, became fast friends who shared a love for one another and for travel to Italy. We made several long and meaningful journeys to this beautiful country covering it from the northern tip to the far south along the Amalfi Coast. Along the way, we found our true selves and more fully appreciated life - family, friends, a productive career. the importance of leisure and exploring different cultures. I tried so hard over the past few years to maintain that closeness, but we lost touch for reasons unknown to me. Perhaps it was Rose's struggle with her health and other life issues or simply our inability ro connect in person. No matter the reasons, I missed her so much and will forever treasure our friendship. I only see her smiling face and free spirit as we explored Italy together and learned how to make a place in this world. Our last trip to Rome was over the Christmas and New Year's holidays, and it was very special. We rented an apartment in Vatican City and Rose made sure we were at midnight mass at St. Peter's. We also committed to visiting every major Basilica in Rome. As a non-Cathollic, I was overwhelmed with how much I learned and how moving and spiritual these experiences became. If Rose has not entered the Pearly Gates, none of us has a chance! RIP, dear friend and save a place for us at God's final table. We'll enjoy a glass of good Barolo when I get there. Barbara
