Ronald Ricci's Obituary
Ronald Ricci, of the Villages Florida, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday March 3, 2026 at the age of 79.
Ron was born in Philadelphia on February 28, 1947 to Albert and Lena “Jean” Ricci (Petitti). He had two older brothers, Al (“Sonny”) and Gerry. He spent the majority of his life living in the Juniata Park neighborhood of Philadelphia. He was a steel factory worker and member of the Teamsters Union, local 169 for which he served as shop steward. In 1971 he married Nancy McCormac and together they had four children: Ronald, Jr., Susan, Karen (his “baby”), and Marc. Ron also had a son from his first marriage, Ron “Ace” Simpson. Ron had six beloved grandchildren: Nina Ricci, Breanna Johnson (Brandon), Anthony Simpson, Nicholas Ricci, Marygrace Ricci and Sheamus Gleeson who delighted and entertained him.
Though Ron and Nancy divorced in 1990, they remained friends throughout his life and Nancy was by his side at his death along with children and grandchildren. Ron was a devoted father who worked to support his family throughout his life. He loved spending summer vacations in Wildwood, NJ, listening to “oldies” music and having big Christmas Eve parties where all were welcome. Ron was a memory maker who lived with a full moon in each eye. He found deep sentimental value in shared traditions and loving connection. He was always sharply dressed -- a great dancer who lit up every room he walked into.
In 2006, Ron moved to The Villages, Florida where he loved spending time at City Fire, drinking Yuengling Lager and laughing with the “Band of Brothers” of which he was an honorary member.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Jean, and his son, Marc. He is survived by four children and their spouses, Ron Simpson, Ron Ricci (Rosemarie) , Susan Ricci (Mike Moore), and Karen Ricci-Gleeson (Tom) and his six grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Gerry, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held in Philadelphia at a later date.
