Romie Brice Phillips' Obituary
Romie Brice Phillips, age 95, of Wildwood, passed away on June 20, 2019 in The Villages. Romie was born on May 28, 1924 to Escar and Lela Mae Phillips in Dobson, North Carolina.
Romie was a member of the Masonic Lodge for several years, was an avid motorcyclist and belonged to several motorcycle clubs. Romie proudly served his nation in the Navy during WWII and fought in the Battle of Normandy on D-Day. Romie became a Mechanical Engineer in the Aerospace sector and worked for NASA and help put Apollo 11 onto the moon. Romie loved to work in his yard and kept it immaculate, he loved his flower beds, especially his roses.
Romie is survived by Heather Gerstenkorn, his companion and caretaker for 22 years; son Aubrey James Phillips, son Ronnie B. (Wanda) Phillips, brother Wayne (Millie) Phillips, brother Roger (Sandy) Phillips, sister Lavena (Calvin) Coble, grandsons A.J. Phillips Jr. and Austin Phillips
and granddaughter Amanda Tyarali. Romie was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Phillips.
