Robert M. Word's Obituary
Robert M. Word, 93, of Oxford, went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, April 21, 2020. Mr. Word was born December 9, 1926 in Wildwood to Thomas Alfred and Ida Lee (Joyner) Word. He was a WWII Veteran serving our country in the U.S. Navy. Robert has lived here all his life and retired as a Conductor for CSX. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oxford, the American Legion Post 18 in Wildwood and the Loyal Order of The Moose in Lake Panasoffkee. Robert enjoyed fishing in his spare time. Survivors include his daughters and their husbands, Brenda & Jim Flotkoetter of Ocala, Pamela & Nate Foster of Fruitland Park and Donna & Dennis DaSilva of Detroit, MI; sister, Quay Lott of Wildwood; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Merle; brothers, Thomas A. Word, Jr; Norman E. Word and Gerald Word; sisters, Ida Lee Phillips, Katie Belle Phillips, Grace Chamblee, Ruth Brewer, Winnie Locke and Ouida Dickey. Robert’s family will celebrate his life 10:30AM, Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the First Baptist Church of Oxford, Family Life Center (gymnasium). Interment was private in Oak Grove Cemetery, Wildwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert’s name may be made to First Baptist Church of Oxford, P.O.
