Robert P Tefft's Obituary
Robert Powers Tefft, 92, of Sebring, Fl passed away peacefully on July 26, 2013. Mr. Tefft was born May 24, 1921 in Ripley, NY to the late Arthur and Inez (Powers) Tefft. Bob grew up during the great depression and joined the Navy in 1938. He is a veteran of WWII where he served in the Pacific. Bob moved to Toledo, OH with his family in 1958 and was a tool and die maker for many years after retiring from the Navy in 1960. He moved back to his childhood home in 1981 for a new endeavor as owner of Brookside Beach in Westfield NY, and then became a full time resident of Florida in 2003. He was an engaging story teller and loved to share the stories of his life. He loved to play cards from poker to bridge but his real passion was golf. He had 4 holes in 1 and still enjoyed playing this year. He was a longtime member of Grace Church of Sebring. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Helen Mulson Tefft, and his siblings, Arthur Jr., Willis, Harry, Charles, Roger, Doris Burch and Donald. He is survived by his wife Lorraine Martin Tefft of 21 years and his daughters; Carol (John) Supplee of Potomac Falls, VA, Robin (John) Pickens of Dublin, OH, stepsons, Glenn (Sandy of Milan, NH, David (Cindy) of Las Vegas, NV and Dennis (Lana) of Chester, MA. ; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, inlaws, and long time friends. Bob has requested a donation be made in his memory to: Good Shepherd Hospice, Highlands County, 320 W. Main St., Lakeland, FL 33815. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Grace Church of Sebring, 3626 Thunderbird Road, Sebring. Family will receive friends prior to service.
