Robert R. Rider's Obituary
Robert R. Rider, 90, of Lady Lake, FL passed away Friday, April 3, 2015. Mr. Rider was born June 29, 1924 in Clark County, Missouri to Ola E. and Elizabeth (Burk) Rider. Bob served in the U.S. Army from February 1943 to November 1945. During WWII he was apart of the 612 Engineers that landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and went on to the Battle of the Bulge as well as numerous other battles and campaigns. He was a retired pipe fitter and a long time resident of Farmington, Iowa. Bob moved to this area in 2011 from Indianapolis, IN to be close to family. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Virginia; Son, Robert Rider, Jr (Mary Kaye) of Sebring, FL; daughter, Cindy Bettis (Rick) of The Villages; daughter-in-law, Joette Rider of Plano, TX; sister, Cecilia Astry of Albuquerque, NM; 5 grandchildren, Jeff Rider, James Rider, Dustin Rider, Casey Rider and Leah Bettis.
