Robert Louis Lyles' Obituary
Robert Louis Lyles, 72, of Wildwood, Florida, passed away on December 12, 2019. Robert was born on November 15, 1947, in Ocala, Florida to Robert Louis Lyles, Sr. and Helen Austin Lyles.
Robert is survived by his mother, Helen Lyles, daughter Sherry Lyles of Austin, Texas, daughter Christa and wife Wendy Frost Lyles of Fort Worth, Texas, brother Mitchell Lyles of Summerfield, sister Patricia Crawford and husband Miles of Wildwood, grandchildren Max and Abby Lyles, nieces and nephews Colleen, Paul, and David Crawford, and Brittany Downey and many others.
Robert proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War flying helicopters. He mainly flew the Boeing CH-47 Chinook. After the war, Robert worked in management until he became disabled.
Robert loved his family, and he had very innocent ways of looking at the world. He was kindhearted and always loved having color in his life. He loved science and learning about space.
He suffered from schizophrenia and PTSD. He lived a challenging life but made it uniquely his own, cherishing the independence he had.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Soup Kitchen in Wildwood or the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI).
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 11:00 AM.
