Robert Bernard Chapin
March 7, 1926 - September 29, 2022
Robert "Bob" Chapin 96, of the Villages Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 29, 2022. He was born to Harry and Cecile (nee Brault) Chapin in Springfield Massachusetts on March 7, 1926
Bob is survived by his wife Bertha Chapin and his 5 children; Donna (John). Miller Mary (Teddy) Gaylor Christine (Rick) Motyl Michael (Carol) Chapin Brenda (David) Campbell17 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. Bob was a World War II veteran, he joined the Navy at 17 and served as coxswain four years then left the Navy and joined the Marine Corps. He Served as driver for General Shoup, Commandant of the Marine Corps. General Shoup asked Bob to stay with him and said he would take him to the top with him, However Bob felt the military was no place to raise a family so he left after four years, married and had a family. Bob was a truck driver and took great pride in his occupation He was a kind and gentle man always willing to help anyone in need. He lived by the golden rule. He was loved by all that knew him. Bob loved the Lord, his family and his country. He was a man of honor and integrity and will be greatly missed. Bob will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
