Ralph E Edmonds' Obituary
Ralph E. Edmonds, 82, of The Villages, FL passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Mr. Edmonds was born January 19, 1933 in Troy, NY to Earl D. and Sara M. (Whipple) Edmonds. He attended Ballston Spa High School in Ballston Spa, NY and Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. He was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. He retired as a Civil Engineer for GE in the Defense Department where he traveled the world locating sites for radar towers. Ralph moved to The Villages in 2005 from Skaneateles, NY. He was a member of New Covenant Methodist Church in The Villages where he ministered as a greeter. Ralph had been a Council Member of the United Church of Christ in Bayberry, NY; he had founded the Laker Transportation Program in Skaneateles, NY, he had been president and treasurer of the Syracuse Figure Skating Club, Syracuse, NY and was the owner/operator of J&R Skates. Ralph had also served on the board of directors and foundation for the Vera House in Syracuse, NY. He had been a member of the Rotary Club of Skaneateles. Ralph was affectionately known as “Rocket” with the Central NY Porsche Club. He was a high speed driving instructor at Watkins Glen International Speedway for the Porsche Club of America and Track Masters. Ralph was a lifelong member of the E.L.F.U.N. Association at GE, a member of the Rotary Club of The Villages where he served as a chairman for the foundation and he was a member of the Bridgeport at Lake Sumter Men’s Club. Ralph traveled extensively for work and also for pleasure. Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Joyce; daughters, Karen B. Langley (Nathan) of Lancing, TN, Kathy J. Pace of Melbourne Beach, FL, Kaye M. Edmonds (Jeff) of Atlanta, GA, Vanessa M. Hughes (Bill) of The Villages; grandchildren, Kevin J. Seddon (Rachael) of Seattle, WA, Ryan J. Seddon (Sarah) of Terre Haute, IN, Jessica M. Kosa of The Villages and Renee E. Kosa of Denver, CO; sister-in-law, Paula Van Sickle of The Villages; brother-in-law, Kirk Van Sickle (Julie) of Portsmouth, NH; his best canine friend, Mr. Watkins and Delilah his diva cat along with 100’s of wonderful friends. Ralph was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Junior Pace. A service to celebrate Ralph’s life is being planned for late January and an avenue for memorial contributions will be announced soon.
