Pedro Mercado's Obituary
Pedro Mercado, 84, Coleman, Florida went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 16, 2025 at Lane Purcell Hospice House in Sumterville, Florida with his loving family by his side. Pedro was born April 7, 1941 in Guanica, Puerto Rico to his parents Pedro Mercado-Suarez and Paula Ramonita (Sepulveda-Casiano) Mercado.
Pedro was a Bus Driver for the MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) in New York City for 10 years. He was a Cab Driver for 20 years and prior to that was the Owner of Mercado Brothers Trucking Corporation. Pedro was of the Christian faith and attended El-Faro Assembly of God Church in Belleview, Florida. Pedro and his wife Carmen moved to Coleman in 2005 from Queens Village, New York. He was a proud member of the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local #1056. Pedro loved to go fishing, play cards, dominoes, chess and play a good game pool. He loved to travel and be surrounded by his family.
Pedro is survived by his loving wife of 60 years: Carmen R. Mercado of Coleman, Florida; two sons: Pedro Mercado, Jr. and his wife Low Chooi Lin of Queens Village, NY and Ulysses Mercado of Uniondale, Long Island, NY; a daughter: Catalina Mercado of Coleman, FL; a brother: Wilfredo Mercado of Bronx, NY; a sister: Malta Mercado of Puerto Rico; five grandchildren: Pedro Min Mercado, Gilbert Michael Flores, Nina Catherine Flores, Hilda Alicia Morales and Isabellah Grace Mercado; three great grandchildren: Andrew David Risteter, Mykahe’l Ezra Flores and Eric Daniel Rogers.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 4:00PM at Banks, Page-Theus Funeral Home, in Wildwood Florida with Pastor Victor Feliciano officiating. A Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 2:00PM till the hour of service at the funeral home.
