Norman L. Gagnon's Obituary
Norman L. Gagnon of The Villages FL, born August 16, 1930 in Moosup, CT to Leo and Bertha Gagnon, peacefully met the Lord under wonderful hospice care on August 17, 2021, one day after turning 91. He was predeceased by the love of his life Connie Desaulniers, after 63 married years and brother Ronald Gagnon. He was an incredibly loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His working life started at his father's business, picking up milk cans from local farmers for transport. Norman had enormous strength, routinely carrying 2 full milk cans in each hand; 400 pounds total. His powerful grip lasted until his dying day, felt by his loving embrace to his family. He subsequently drove 18 wheel trucks for 20 years with Curtis/Burgmeyer Trucking of Danielson CT. He then worked for Kaman Aerospace refurbishing helicopter parts for 15 years until retirement in 1995. Norman was an avid golfer, sparking the desire to move to The Villages. He also had many hobbies throughout his life. He was a crafty mechanic and excelled in horse shoe throwing, skeet shooting, and archery; competing in many CT State Tournaments. He was also very observant and witty, amazing all who knew him with his detailed observations and clever sayings, leading to his grandchildren writing cherished memories as an "Archive of Witty Remarks". Norman and Connie moved to The Villages in 2006 from their home town of Moosup CT. He was a communicant of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church Wildwood FL and an honorary Knights of Columbus life member, Moosup CT Council. Norman is survived by his sister Elaine Durrigan of Sterling CT. He leaves a son, Rick and wife Valerie of Stafford Springs CT, daughter Cheryl and husband Michael Breault of The Villages FL; grandson Ross Gagnon and wife Megan of Fairfield CT; great grandsons Theo and Jude; great granddaughter Genevieve; grandson Travis Gagnon and wife Stephanie of Washington DC ; granddaughter Lauren Gagnon of Stafford Springs CT; and granddaughter Michelle (Breault) Mugnaini and husband Dave of Orlando FL. Additionally he leaves a combined 33 nephews and nieces. He is dearly missed not only by his family, but by his close friends and those that had the pleasure of knowing him. A memorial service at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Wildwood, FL is planned for October 8th at 11:00 am with a subsequent service in Moosup CT. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated, along with donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) in memory of Norman, an organization dear to his heart.
