Nila Ruth Currie's Obituary
Nila Ruth Currie, 86, of Pittsboro, IN, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019. Mrs. Currie was born May 2, 1933 in Gadsden, Alabama, to James and Eula May (Woodard) Haralson. She moved to Florida as a child, and lived in Leesburg and Wildwood for most of her life. Nila moved to Pittsboro in 2013 to be closer to her daughter. She retired as an office manager, and worked for many years with Dr. Shutz in Leesburg. She attended the Oxford Assembly of God, and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Wildwood Chapter. Nila attended Your Venture Church in Lizton, IN, and loved sewing, reading, gardening, cooking, and creating crafts. Survivors include her children, Phyllis McDonald, Karen Shank, and Keith Currie; brothers, Curtis Haralson and Leon Haralson; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 21 great, great grandchildren. Nila was preceded in death by husbands, Reginald “Buddy” Rowe and Donald Currie. She was also preceded in death by children, Michael Davidson, Neil Currie, Donna Currie Thomas, and grandson Douglas Thomas.
Visitation will be held from 11:00a.m. – 1:00p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 1:00p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2019 in the Banks/Page-Theus Chapel.
