Nancy R. Cowell's Obituary
Nancy R. Cowell, 88, The Villages, Florida went to be with her Lord on August 29, 2025 under the loving care of her Husband and staff of Cornerstone Hospice at Mariposa House in The Villages. Nancy was born on March 9, 1937 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey to her parents Carleton Johnson and Ruth (Sorensen) Johnson.
Nancy and her loving husband Ralph moved to Florida in 1980 from Connecticut and then to The Villages, Florida in 2004. She was a member of The Congregational Church of Summerfield, Florida. Nancy was a former Regional Sales Manager with Mardel Laboratories who produced aquarium pharmaceuticals as well as pet treats in the United States. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting, decorating and baking. Nancy owned a photography shop in New Jersey and with her loving husband owned a unique aquarium store in the Hartford Civic Center prior to moving to Florida.
In 1979, she got the attention of a New York Times journalist who in turn published an article about the pet industry that led to growth in popularity for the aquarium hobby.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 53 years of marriage: Ralph Cowell of The Villages, FL; two daughters: Junellen Neese of Houston, TX and Cristina Cowell of Santa Rosa, CA; two loving granddaughters: Adriana and Rebecca and many dear friends in The Villages.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 12:00PM at The Congregational Church of Summerfield, Florida.
