Mildred Shaw's Obituary
Mildred C. Shaw, 102, of Oxford passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Mrs. Shaw was born August 27, 1914 in Oxford to Charles and Nellie (Fort) Cockfield. She returned to Oxford in 1975 from Jacksonville. Mildred was a homemaker, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Oxford. She had belonged to the Cow Bells of Sumter County. Mildred loved caring for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as reading, playing cards, playing marbles and riding horses. Survivors include her children, Buddy & Pat Shaw of Jacksonville, Vonnie & Hurley Nichols of Oxford and Andy & Connie Shaw of Jacksonville; sister, Betty Simon of Oxford; grandchildren, Cliff & Kathleen Shaw, Sharon & Richard Wooten, Dana & Dan Sharpe, Keith & Sheryl Shaw, Shawn & Chris Thompson and Susan Shaw; great-grandchildren, Kimberly Wooten, Jennifer Wooten, Matthew Wooten, Lauran & Andy Deck, Kristen Shaw, Daniel Shaw, Ryan Roach, Tyler Thompson, Drew Shaw and Dexter Shaw. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff, sister, Irene Gates and grandson, Keith Shaw. Visitation will be held 10:00-11:00am with the funeral service at 11:00am, Saturday, May 13, 2017 in the Banks/Page-Theus Chapel. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Wildwood. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Cornerstone Hospice, www.cshospice.org.
