Merle B. Word's Obituary
Merle B. Word, 85, Oxford, Florida, went to be with the Lord on February 13, 2016 under the loving care of her family and Staff of Lane Purcell Hospice House in Sumterville, Florida. Mrs. Word was born on March 16, 1930 in Ocilla, Georgia to her parents Warren Walker Batts and Mattie Mae (Murray) Batts. A loving homemaker and a longtime resident of Oxford, Florida, as well as a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Oxford, Florida. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years: Robert M. Word of Oxford, FL; three daughters: Brenda (Jim) Flotkoetter of Ocala, FL, Pamela (Nate) Foster of Fruitland Park, FL and Donna (Dennis) DaSilva of Oakland, MI; brother: Sammy Batts of Glenville, NC; sister: Bettye Ruth Wiley of Ocala, FL six grandchildren: Joe Flotkoetter, Karen Hans, Grant Foster, Deanna DaSilva, Rebecca Crawford and Lindsay DaSilva; four great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Madison, Kirin and Kenly; many loving nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 11:00AM at First Baptist Church of Oxford. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her loving memory to be made to The Lane Purcell Hospice House at 2452 CR 526E Sumterville, FL33585.
