Eccles, Matthew Shawn's Obituary
Matthew Shawn Eccles passed away peacefully with family at his side at UF Health Spanish Plaines hospital on November 19th, 2025. Born on June 16th, 1980, in Schenectady, NY, Matt spent his childhood in New York and Florida and graduated from Lake Weir High School in 1998.
Matt had a great sense of humor, a contagious smile, and an enormous heart. His siblings carry countless funny stories and cherished memories of growing up with him. He cared deeply for his children—no matter the distance or time, they were always held close in his heart.
A talented baseball player, Matt spent many years on the field and was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Bengals. He was also a skilled painter and a hard worker who took great pride in the homes he brought to life with his craft.
Matt was predeceased by his stepfather, Jerry; his grandparents, Fran and Ray Stowell; and his uncle Kevin. He is survived by his mother, Cindy (Danny); his father, Tom; his brothers, Chris and Adrian (Lisa); his sisters, Jen (Al), Katie (Aaron), Jessie (Harrison), and Samantha; and his children, Roman, Lucas, Emma, Isiah, J.M., and Logan.
Matt will be cremated. A service honoring his life will be held on January 10th at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church 5750 SE 115th St, Belleview, FL 34420.
