Mary Elinor Tanner's Obituary
Mary Elinor Tanner, age 99 of Oxford, passed on May 1, 2019. Mary was born September 24, 1919 to Clarence Everett and Cora Elizabeth (Ennis) Pease in Warrensburg, Illinois. Mary moved to Florida in 1937 to live with her brother, Everett Pease, and lived in Sumter County since 1950.
Mary belonged to United Methodist Church of Wildwood. She enjoyed spending time reading and listening to the Bible, crocheting, sewing, and working in her yard. But most of all loved cooking for and spending time with her family. Mary’s most adamant desire was that her loved ones would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus and meet her in Heaven.
Mary married James Wooten in 1938 and had two children. Her son, Joe Berner Wooten passed in 1997. Barbara (Wooten) Hudson resides in Wildwood.
Mary married James Henry Coleman in 1950 and had two more children. He passed in 1965. Mary Ruth (Coleman) Turcotte resides in Minnesota with her husband, William. James Henry Coleman, Jr resides in Crystal River with his wife, Joanna.
Mary married Lester Tanner in 1971. He passed in 1997.
Mary is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, and son Joe Burner Wooten.
Graveside service will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell on Monday, May 6th, 2019 at 10:0 AM.
