My mom, Synnøve (sister to Margit), always tell us about this one time during the second world war, when the german troops were marching right in front of their house in Kvinesdal, Norway. The germans were tired and hungry. So the commanding officer, a BIG TALL man, took a chicken and knocked on the door. Margit, about 16-18 years old, opened and saw the german soldier holding the chicken. She immediately grabbed the chicken, yelled NEIN, and slammed the door in the soldier's face.
Her mother was shaking afterwards and her father said later that if that had been the "wrong" german, we could all have been executed.
Wow, I mean... she was tough, my tante.
Rest in peace dear tante Margit.

Jim and Mayna first met Mormor ten years ago at the Springdale pool in The Villages, Florida. We loved her the first time we saw her beautiful smile. She was always so kind and sweet always sharing interesting stories of wartime Norway. Mormor loved coming over our home for Sunday dinner. We will miss her dearly. We lost a beautiful angel
