Barry V. Smith passed away in her home in Avon Park of natural causes at the age of 95 on February 23, 2016. She was surrounded by family. Barry grew up in Chittenango, NY. After WW II she married Lester F. Smith and moved to Indi Read Obituary
I had the pleasure and honor of spending time with Barry at her home in Avon Park. I lost touch over the last few years as I began to get busy with kids of my own and just found out that she had passed. She reminded me so much of my own grandma with her spunk and energy. I loved hearing her stories about her flying days! I will miss her.
I had the privilege of knowing Barry. She was such a charismatic and lively person. She brought cheer and a smile to everyones face when she was around. She literally lit up the room and was the life of the party. She will be greatly missed but her legacy and memories will live on forever. It was an honor to get to know her.
I had the pleasure to host Barry at my office on a number of occasions. She blessed our community by letting me tape an interview with her for two hours where she described the history of her family settling here, and how our District was formed. A beautiful woman.

Knowing Barry was a true pleasure .... she was quite the gal .... I met her through the Sebring Woman's Club .... namely the Flea Market ... when I was the chairperson, Barry always helped .... if not with volunteering, with treasures .... for example, 18 black bags of clothes ............ I am so sorry to hear of Barry's death. My husband and I enjoyed knowing Barry and Les. I have fond memories of knowing her through the cattlemen's association meetings and enjoying her stories concerning her time with the WASPs.
