Lucille C Martin's Obituary
Lucille C. Martin, 94, went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2014. She was born July 3, 1919 to Charles B and Leila Milton, Sr., in Sumter County, FL. She was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Oxford, FL. Lucille worked in the Wildwood High School Cafeteria and drove the school bus for Sumter County Schools. She enjoyed retirement by traveling to all 50 states and many foreign countries. Lucille loved to run the produce stand many years for Martin & Martin. Her recent years have been filled with numerous fun hours playing the “the marble game” with her friends and proudly carrying the title of “The Marble Queen.”
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Lynelle (Jerry) Purcell of Oxford, FL; four grandchildren, Wanda (Bill) Crittenden of Panama City FL, Craig (Angel) Martin of Oxford, FL, Shawn Purcell of Oxford, FL and Brad “Deon” Martin of Oxford, FL, six great grandchildren; Heath (Amber) Crittenden of St. Petersburg, FL, Jessica Martin of Anchorage, AK, Bret (Katie) Crittenden of Manhattan, KS, Broughton Martin of Oxford, FL, Avery Martin of Bellevue, FL, and Branson Martin of Oxford, FL and one great great grandchild, Tristan Crittenden of St. Petersburg, FL, one sister, Clara Roll of Oviedo, FL, and many much-loved nieces and nephews.
Lucille is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest B. Martin, daughter, Thelma Jeanette Martin and son Darroll Martin.
A visitation for Mrs. Martin will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 6:00PM ~ 8:00PM in the Banks/Page-Theus Chapel with funeral services being held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Oxford. Interment will be at Nichols Cemetery.
